since i am sleepless and am in a writing/ranting mood, it's time to talk about my favorite artists. my top 3 favorites: Frank Frazetta, Mark Ryden, and Camille Rose Garcia. Frank Frazetta is just awesome, he did all of the original Conan illustrations, and i especially love the way he draws his women. i'm not into the whole skinny hollywood longhaired female version of myself look, and his women actually had curves. it's sad what has become the standard for "attractiveness" now adays. ofcourse many people could probably say that it's something psychological about how guys today prefer women who look like they could be dominated easily, and people who say this are probably exactly right. Am i the only one who thinks Megan Fox is really generic looking? I say all this because even in nude photography/painting of today, women are getting scrawnier and scrawnier, as if sexuality is frowned upon. i don't get it, but ahwell. I love Mark Ryden because i've never seen anyone use such weird imagery as he does. and his paintings are so detailed, and it takes hours of staring to find all the hidden little gems in his work. My favorite of his is called the Butcher Bunny, and looking at it you'll see a tiny jesus statue, a tiny abraham lincoln, and not to mention, a bunny wearing a bunny suit, cutting meat. Camille Rose Garcia has the most awesome and unique style i've ever seen. she does alot of little details in her paintings, and i'm very impressed with her because she does most of them in one sitting, and my drawings take me forever. She is probably one of my biggest influences, her style combined with Frank Frazetta's imagery, and you pretty much have what i like to do.

I suggest everyone check out these 3 artists, and also check out a book called Pop-Surrealism. you can find it at any barnes and noble or books a million, and every artist in there is awesome, and unique to say the least.

Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad. (Salvador Dalí)
